چکیده

Ecosystem structure—that is the species present, functions they represent, and how those interact—is an important determinant of community stability. This in turn affects ecosystems respond to natural anthropogenic crises, whether or ecological that represent are able persist. Here we use fossil data from museum collections, literature, Paleobiology Database reconstruct trophic networks Tethyan paleocommunities Anisian Carnian (Triassic), Bathonian (Jurassic), Aptian (Cretaceous) stages, compare these a previously reconstructed network modern Jamaican reef community. the effect of functional/notional approach on the proficiency level of efl learners and its evaluation through functional test

in fact, this study focused on the following questions: 1. is there any difference between the effect of functional/notional approach and the structural approaches to language teaching on the proficiency test of efl learners? 2. can a rather innovative language test referred to as "functional test" ge devised so so to measure the proficiency test of efl learners, and thus be as much reliable an...

Approaches to Understanding Population Level Functional Diversity in a Microbial Community

Traditional microbiology has relied on the use of axenic cultures maintained in the laboratory over generations and exploited a handful of tractable microorganisms to elucidate basic metabolic pathways and the complexities of gene regulation. However, the vast majority of bacteria in the environment cannot be easily cultivated and therefore are not amenable to traditional microbiological method...

Beyond species: functional diversity and the maintenance of ecological processes and services

1. The goal of conservation and restoration activities is tomaintain biological diversity and the ecosystem services that this diversity provides. These activities traditionally focus on the measures of species diversity that include only information on the presence and abundance of species. Yet how diversity influences ecosystem function depends on the traits and niches filled by species. 2. B...

Evolution and Functional Diversity of Jellyfish Opsins

Cnidaria are the most basal animal phylum possessing complex eyes [1]. Their eyes predominantly use ciliary photoreceptor cells (c-PRCs) like vertebrates, whereas insect eyes use rhabdomeric photoreceptor cells (r-PRCs) [1-4]. These two cell types show not only different cytoarchitectures but distinct phototransduction cascades, which are triggered by the respective types of opsins (e.g., [5]),...
